The hills behind Mulifanua have a rich history, being the original site where lapita pottery (3,000 yrs old and a lost art) was found. More recently it was the centre of a major German coconut and cattle estate with many of the original buildings still standing. Now it is a major village plantation area with cocoa, papaya, taro, banana, breadfruit and a range of leafy vegetables. The areas are connected by an intersecting mix of roads and trails, so explore the region on the gentler tracks, or combine history with a good downhill challenge.
We are slowly adding a network of new single track through the forest, so whether you are looking for gentle(ish) cultural plantation an forest tour or a faster, more challenging ride we have options.
The ride works best as a half day guided ride, but you are welcome to keep the bike for the day and explore the back trails further on your own, or ride through the villages beside the lagoon to Falelatai and back. Or combine the day with some kayaking.
The guided ride (including all day bike hire) is 100 Tala and is available every day. But bookings are essential.
Free pickup from Le Vasa and Sheraton Resort.
Coming from Apia it is a 60 Tala taxi ride (we can organise as required), or catch a local bus for 4 Tala and experience the wooden busses with their deep base music (an experience everyone should try once).
